Congratulations to Monica D. for being named our SuperMom of the Month! She is receiving a $100 gift certificate!
Monica has been in our group for a year and a half, and has consistently been one of our most active members each month. Her advice is always sincere and caring. She is genuine and welcoming. Our group is lucky to have her!
I asked her some questions and here are her answers (edited for clarity):
Can you tell us a few things about your family? I've been married for 13 years and we have two sons, ages 7 and 4. I have a degree in psychology, but haven't worked in the field since 2010. My last job was at Pier 1! It's not as fun as you think. My husband is the director of HR for a large company. We are from Texas but lived in Kansas for 7 years before moving here last year. What things do you struggle with as a mom? Patience and not yelling! I've gotten much better with the yelling! My oldest son has multiple food allergies and I navigate that daily. I've had to adapt a lot of things, and still learn new things every day since he came along. How do you balance time for yourself? I don't! I used to do things for me, either running fun errands or getting a coffee, once a week after my husband got home, but with two, it's been more hard. Nap time = my time. I need to do more things for me. Why do you like Charlotte Moms? It's such a great source of information for someone who is still learning about the city, as well as getting mom/women advice. Almost always, responses are positive and encouraging. I've never felt judged or insulted in this group. So glad I found it! What makes you want to be supportive of other moms? I truly love to give good advice! I like thinking I helped someone that is dealing with anything similar to my situation. And we're all in this together: doing it perfectly or screwing it up! What is your favorite restaurant? We discovered Namastay Hangout in Cotswold. Brunch and lunch has been great! Do you have a guilty pleasure? Dessert and YouTube makeup videos! Anything else fun or interesting about you? I've played the piano since I was 5 years old, but haven't played since we moved from Texas. I'm asking for a piano for Christmas!!
is proud to sponsor November 2017's SuperMom of the Month!
